Summary
Rafiya was awarded an Open National Scholarship in Languages and pursued her Bachelors of Law Degree at the University of Nottingham.
Subsequently, Rafiya pursued the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at BPP University Law School, London, England, and upon successful completion, was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales. Rafiya is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn. Whilst studying the BPTC, Rafiya carried out significant pro bono work at BPP Law School’s Employment Law Telephone Advice Line, for which she was recognized by the University.
Upon returning to Trinidad and Tobago, Rafiya successfully completed her pupillage at Trinity Chambers and was admitted to the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago. As part of the team in Trinity Chambers, Rafiya is actively involved in the litigation process, from the preparatory to the appellate stages. She has appeared in the High Court and practises in several areas including civil litigation, family law and company law, and has a particularly keen interest in the fields of employment law and personal injury.
